Since it was established in the year 1983, The Advocates for Human Rights has rescued lives, changed the legal system, and educated on the accountability for the violation of human rights. The victims who seek help from this organization benefit in various ways like rebuilding their lives, finding employment, and even being reunited with their families after getting asylum.

The organization has also changed how the legal system responds to violence against woman in many countries. This has impacted numerous lives of especially for women and has created models that will be used in the future. It also serves as the best resource for the practice of the legal reforms.

Advocates have also dealt with the government by holding them responsible for any violation of the human rights. It has created an accurate and atrocious body in Sierra Leone, Liberia, Colombia, and Peru. The organization also help students and has started a project known as Nepal School project that deals specifically with the students.

However, Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin have created have founded Phoenix New Times and Village Voice Media which is an organization that helps to settle any finance that might arise from the arrest of migrants. Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin managed to raise $.75 million which caused them to be arrested. The sheriff ordered the two reports to be taken from their house and taken into holding because they revealed that there were grand jury proceedings that hunted reporters’ notes involving anything that mentions the sheriff.

More shocking is that the jury presented subpoenas so that they could get the identity of the people who read the article involving the sheriff that was posted online. However, Michael and Jim knew their rights and sued the county. They prevailed in the Unite State courts of appeal.

Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin and the funds that they collect will be used to support groups that help with human, civil, and migrant rights. It will also help to create awareness on the freedom of speech and the participation of civil duty in Arizona.
